24 participants, vote awareness, presence of eminent personalities; ‘Awaaz’ kickstarts its journey in a grand style

Seems like the trend of open mic has caught up in Silchar. ‘Awaaz’, a group comprising of all college going cultural enthusiasts, organised its first ever open mic, ‘Spring Samvaad’ yesterday at Gandhi Bhawan in Silchar.

The event started at 4 PM after maintaining a moment of silence remembering Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev’s valour on their 88th martyrdom. The evening saw some high spirited performances ranging from solo songs, poetry recitation, standup among other performing arts.

Keeping in the mind the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, the chief guests of the event- Civil Servants Navanita Hazarika, Maria Tanim, Kimneinem Changsan, the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Cachar spoke about the importance of voting and what factors are to be kept in mind for a ‘first-time voter’. They also clearly mentioned that no voters should be missed and everyone should vote to make our democracy a success.

The founder of the Awaaz Subhashome Dewanjee exclaimed his happiness saying, “Our first open mic turned out to be really awesome. It was like a dream come true. When we were planning to organise this, my team-mates were more excited. Everyone is overjoyed with the turnout.”

Thanking his team members for their unflinching efforts and hard work, he added “The love and support from everyone are just awesome. Our motto is to give a platform to people and their various talent. I feel very happy when Awaaz becomes the reason behind someone’s smile.

The hall was jampacked to witness the rising talent of the 24 participants. Even eminent personalities from various fields and profession also graced the ocassion to cheer for the stellar performances by these artists.
