A college in Barak Valley distributes handmade sanitizer and masks among nearby residents

Sanitisers are one of the essential items to prevent the spread of COVID-19. With the demand for hand sanitizer in the wake of the coronavirus scare, a college in Karimganj has made a sanitiser meeting WHO guidelines and have distributed it free of cost.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhay Adarsh Mahavidyalaya (PDUAM) is situated at a place name Eraligool which is approx 19.8 km from Karimganj.

The chemistry department of PDUAM has made approx 50 bottles of hand sanitizers along with hand made masks and have distributed them among the residents of Eraligool.

In a conversation with Dr. Mithun Nandi who happens to be an Assistant Professor from the chemistry department shared with us that they have been working in two teams from past few days.


One comprising of the teaching and non-teaching staff along with their principal, Jayasree Chakraborty and the other one was their NSS cell.

Along with sanitizers and masks they have also distributed pamphlets among the villagers and have visited door to door to spread awareness regarding the precautions, symptoms and usage of sanitizers.

Dr. Nandi also shared that if situation compels then they are ready to make more sanitizers and masks to distribute among the people for free of cost.
