Aspiring Barak kick starts today with a quiz competition

To mark the first anniversary of Barak Bulletin, the website has organised a one-day convention that is presented by Jookto. The gala event has kick started with a quiz competition at Rajiv Bhawan. 12 schools around Barak Valley have participated in the competition that is hosted by Dr. Himabrata Das, Registrar, Department of Psychiatry, Silchar Medical College & Hospital.

While the young minds are being tested, the stage is also set for two very in-depth panel discussions in the afternoon. The first of the two- “Can We Create Champions In Barak Valley” is a session on the education system of the region. It is observed that a large number of students go out of the station to prepare for competitive examinations. In this session, the panelists will decode the education system and shed light on the areas of improvement. The session will be moderated by Joydeep Biswas, HOD Department of Statistics & Associate Professor Department of Economics, Cachar College, Silchar. The panelists include – Dr. Babul Bezbaruah, Principal cum Chief Superintendent, Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Professor Dilip Chandra Nath, Vice-chancellor, Assam University Silchar, Dr. Himabrata Das, Registrar, Department of Psychiatry, Silchar Medical College & Hospital, Mr. Hilal Uddin Laskar, Associate Professor, Department of Philosophy, SS College Hailakandi and P. I. T Raja, Assistant Commissioner, KVS, RO, Silchar.

In the second panel discussion- “The Importance of Regional Media In Digital Age” the who’s who of media fraternity will discuss various issues that the local media houses are facing at this stage. Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Gujarat Riots or Kavery River Water Dispute the regional publications publishing from its respective regions provided the most detailed reports. How has the emergence of digital media changed the dynamics of regional print publications? Is the importance reducing with time? How important is the platform for advertisers, who are willing to spend money in order to reach out to their target audience? Do they see a good return on investment? The moderator will try to find answers to all these questions from panelists Arijit Aditya, Editor, Dainik Jugashanka, Taimur Raja Choudhury, Editor, Dainik Samayik Prasanga, Mukesh Agarwal, Group Vice President, Barak Valley Cements, Paresh Dutta, Editor, Dainik Prantojyoti, Vivek Podder, Director, Podder Toyota.

In the event, three individuals will also be recognised for their contribution towards the betterment of the society and duly felicitated. Apart from that, talents from Barak Valley will exhibit a slew of cultural events. There is a performance lined up by Madly Bangali and Bikramjit Baulia to make the evening an entertaining affair.

Entry to the event is free and one can walk in at Rajiv Bhawan to witness these dignitaries in action.
