Cachar Police seizes drugs worth over 6 lakhs from Tarapur; detains a lady
Based on a secret tip-off, a team of Cachar Police led by DSP Bhargav Goswami raided a residence in Tarapur’s Jogesh Road. The raid came in as a surprise for the people as very few expected police to barge in a residential colony like this.
The DSP was joined by officer-in-charge-Silchar Sadar, IC – Tarapur Outpost, female constable and a sniffer dog.
After a successful raid, the DSP said they have managed to seize 174 grams of suspected brown sugar and a few capsules. According to their rough estimate, the market value of the seized substances would be over Rs 6 lakhs. Police officials also managed to seize some important documents related to the drugs and its delivery.
“We have detained a lady and we will interrogate other members of the house. We are investigating the matter and will try to find out who delivered the consignment and for whom,” said DSP Bhargav Goswami.
As per available information, the lady detained is 45-year-old and has been living in Jogesh Road, Tarapur for more than 35 years. Originally, as per Police sources, she hails from Manipur.
