Chief Minister’s Barak visit gets rescheduled; arriving on March 1

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was scheduled to arrive in Silchar this evening on a two-day visit to Barak Valley. However, it has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons and now the Chief Minister will arrive in Barak Valley on 1st March. His OSD Shekhar Dey broke the news.

Before assembly elections, the Chief Minister is scheduled to visit Barak Valley and inaugurate a mini-secretariat office in Silchar. Besides, he is also to inaugurate a power substation in Karimganj, attend the Bhumi Pujan of Saraswati Vidya Niketan and unveil a statue of late BJP leader Rathindra Bhattacharya.

There is also talk of inaugurating the Patharkandi Police Station which was built under the Maitri project, through online video conferencing from Karimganj. He is also scheduled to hold a special meeting with the Paper Mill workers. Recently, the Chief Minister spoke to MP Rajdeep Roy whose house was gheraoed by Paper Mill workers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while attending a political rally yesterday hinted that the election dates could be announced in the first week of March. After announcement of election dates, code of conduct will come into force which means that the Chief Minister won’t be able to announce or inaugurate any project after the date. Before that, he will come to Barak and make various announcements is what many are thinking.
