Fire gradually coming under control; restricted to one RCC building, flames still rising 

The firemen with the support of Assam Police, locals have managed to stop the fire from spreading further. 

Today, at around 7:00 pm, a massive fire broke at a footwear store in Panpatty Silchar. In no time, the fire took a wild shape and started spreading to the warehouse located behind Vishal Footwaer. An adjacent multi-storey residential building also caught fire. 

Experts from ONGC, officials from Indian Air Force, deputy commissioner of Cachar Keerthi Jalli, SP Cachar Bhanwar Lal Meena, Executive Officer Silchar Municipality Board, Sumit Sattavan, OC Silchar Sadar Ditumoni Goswami and other officers from Police and administration are at the spot supervising the operation. 

An excavator was called which demolished the store that caught fire. The firemen had no pathway to drive through and that is why the eviction drive was conducted. 

Eventually, at around 11:30 the flames came under control. However, the three-storey warehouse continues to be under fire. 

One more hi-tech engine from the Indian Air Force has been called for and that drove through the debris to bring the fire under control. 

The fire tender from Indian Air Force sprayed Chemicals to bring the fire under control. The van is called a mixed fire tender. It sprays a combination of water, foam and dry chemical powder which brings the fire under control.
