Kendriya Vidyalaya NIT Silchar to hold examination on March 19; “Local holiday for ‘Dol Yatra’ not applicable for us” Principal
There is a practical examination scheduled for class XI students of Kendriya Vidyalaya NIT Silchar on March 19, 2022. The parents of the applicants have raised a concern that this scheduling violates the notification issued by Cachar District Administration.
The Deputy Commissioner’s notification issued on March 16 notified March 19, Saturday as a holiday on the occasion of Dol Yatra. “The undersigned is pleased to declare a local holiday under N.I Act on 19th March, 2022 throughout the District of Cachar in connection with the Dol jatra/Holl Festival. All the State Government Offices including, Magisterial Courts, Education Institutions, Financial Institutions closed on that day,” stated the order.
The Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Prabodh Dinkar said, “Local holiday for ‘Dol Yatra’ is not applicable for the KV NIT Silchar.” He added, “To keep the school shut and disrupt the examination schedule, we need to get a notice from the cluster head. Since we are a Central Government institution and as we have not got any such notice from the Cluster, we will continue with the practical examination scheduled on Saturday. Friday remains a holiday for us on the occasion of Holi,” asserted the Principal.
The parents raised their concerns that since most of Silchar will play with colours on Saturday, it will be a hassle for the students to reach the examination center. However, the notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner mentions that the holiday is not applicable in the case of emergency services and schedule examinations.
