Major Explosives seized in Joint Operation between Cachar Police and CRPF; Burmese Supari cofiscated in a separate operation

In a collaborative effort between the Kalain Police Station and the 147th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), a significant breakthrough was achieved in a joint operation on the Silchar Kalain road. Acting on confidential information, law enforcement officials successfully apprehended one individual, identified as Nazim Uddin, aged 22, son of Ainul Hoque, hailing from Sundaura village in Kalain Police Station, Cachar district.

During the operation, the authorities uncovered a concealed cache in possession of Nazim Uddin. The seized consignment included a total of 97 detonators and 96 fuses, raising concerns about potential illicit activities involving explosives.

Cachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, confirmed the operation’s success, highlighting the crucial role of intelligence gathering and collaboration between various law enforcement agencies.

“This operation is a testament to the effectiveness of our intelligence network and the seamless coordination between Kalain Police and the 147th Bn CRPF. The recovery of a significant number of detonators and fuses underscores the potential threat that was successfully neutralized,” said SP Numal Mahatta in a statement.

In a separate incident, law enforcement personnel at Gumrah OP detained two vehicles, a truck with registration number AS 01 DD 9674 and a Bolero pick-up vehicle with registration number AS 11 DC 7636. The subsequent search of these vehicles led to the seizure of a substantial consignment, including one ton and 20 bags of Burmese supari respectively. Burmese areca nuts is a form of betel nut that’s being traded illegally through Cachar.

One individual has been apprehended in connection with the seized contraband. The detained persons and the seized items are now under the scrutiny of the authorities, and necessary lawful actions are being initiated.

The nature of the seized detonators and fuses raises concerns about potential illicit activities, and authorities are investigating any possible links between the two incidents. The Kalain Police, CRPF, and other relevant agencies are working collaboratively to ascertain the motive behind the possession of such explosive materials and the intended use.
