No restrictions for patients but only fully-vaccinated attendants can enter Silchar Medical College and Hospital: Management

75 individuals have tested positive for COVID 19 on Saturday in Cachar announcing the commencement of third wave in the district. As the cases pile up, the number of patients admitted to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital will also head North. To combat the situation, the government of Assam has already issued a set of guidelines. Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has made it clear that the State will stress more on vaccination and less on lockdowns.

Echoing the restrictions imposed already, Silchar Medical College and Hospital’s management has constituted a set of guidelines. To reduce the chances of contamination, the SMCH has decided that only fully-vaccinated attendants will be allowed to enter the hospital premises. Moreover, overcrowding of any sorts will not be entertained. All attendants must wear mask and if found without one, action will be initiated against violators.

While informing the new set of guidelines, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice principal of SMCH mentioned that any patient wailing in to emergency and their attendants will be exempted. “Any person who need medical support are always welcome to the SMCH and the doctors are ready to render all services round the clock but the attendants must be fully vaccinated,” said Dr. Gupta.

It is worth mentioning here that the government had excluded medical institutions from the “Not vaccinated no entry” rule. The State has already rolled out its guidelines stating only the fully vaccinated individuals can enter places like mall, cinema halls, offices, public transports. SMCH authority went a step ahead and imposed restrictions on attendants in the hospital.
