RPSF Jawan Commits Suicide at Silchar Railway Station With Service Revolver, Investigation Underway

A Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) jawan, identified as Sanuj Chauhan, reportedly committed suicide with his service revolver at Silchar railway station last night. This creates a wave of shock and sensation in the area. He was immediately rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital, but couldn’t be saved. The reason behind his sucide remains unclear as the investigation unfolds.

Sanuj Chauhan, who was on sentry duty in front of the office of the Deputy Chief Engineer (Construction) of the N.F. Railway Division for Jiribam, was stationed in the Silchar Railway Colony, Tarapur. The tragic incident occurred around 9:30 PM on Monday when Chauhan, while on duty, suddenly fired a round at his head with his service revolver.

Immediately after the incident, Chauhan was rushed to Silchar Medical College. Despite prompt medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Chauhan, approximately 40 years old, was a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He had been recently posted to Silchar railway station, having joined duty just 3-4 days ago from the RPSF First Battalion headquarters in Lumding, as reported by local sources.

The motive behind Chauhan’s drastic step remains unknown. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the reasons behind his suicide. The use of his service revolver, an INSAS rifle, during the suicide raises several questions that the ongoing investigation aims to answer.

The local police have started probing the circumstances surrounding Chauhan’s death and are working to uncover any potential underlying causes that might have led to this tragic incident.
