SP Cachar in ICU, likely to be airlifted to Mumbai, his PSO declared dead

It is a complete bloodbath in Silchar Medical College and Hospital’s emergency department. Bleeding jawans are stretchered one after another inside the emergency. The in-flow of the patients is significant and dead bodies are kept covered with white clothes inside a room.

Meanwhile, SP Cachar Vaibhav Chandrakant Nimbalkar has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital. “The bullet struck him at his hip and penetrated through his femur bone. Our initial assessment is that the bullet is still inside. But he has profuse bleeding and so we are yet to be certain,” said a senior treating doctor.

“There is a bullet inside and the fracture is bad. The orthopaedic surgeons suggested immediate surgery but the family opted to airlift the patient to Mumbai. It will now depend on the availability of an air ambulance,” said the team of doctors deployed to attend the SP.

SP Nimbalkar is conscious and is talking to his family members. His wife met him at the ICU and is aware of the situation.

His PSO Liton Suklabaidya who incurred multiple bullet injuries has been declared dead at SMCH. Four other security personnel have also been declared dead. Samsur Jaman Barbhuiya, jawan 21 IR Battalion, Swapan Kumar Roy, Majmul Haque, Majmul Haq have also been declared dead.
