Subhajit Paul’s all-round performance, Sunzow Bramha’s 68; Itkhola beats resilient Oasis in Super Division

Samik Das is in form this season and his consistent performance is posing questions to the selectors who didn’t pick him for the trials of the Upcoming Ranji Trophy. After the clinical display against United Club, the Itkhola star wreaked havoc in Oasis’ top order on Tuesday in Silchar DSA’s Super Division Match.

Bowling first, the intimidating pair of Samik Das and Pritam Das posed serious threat to the batters. Oasis lost early wickets and at one stage, when the team was struggling at 59 for 4, it seemed like the batting order will collapse putting forward another flop show in the Super Division. But the Oasis middle order rose to the occasion, and played out of their skins to take the team to a fighting score of 175. Tapash Das scored unbeaten 49 and he was supported by Saidul F Barlaskar (24) and Arijit Mahapatra (31).

Samik Das picked three wickets and Subhajit Paul picked two. Rahul Singh and Chandan Goala bagged one wicket each.

Itkhola bats deep but the team did not have a great outing against the United Club in their first match. It was left for Pritam Das and Samik Das to take the team to a big total. On Tuesday too the openers failed to deliver for Itkhola. Aman Singh’s fight to gather some form ended after he was caught in cover.

Sunzow Bhramha (68) gathered form and scored a stylish half century to take the team closer to victory. Opener Subhajit Paul (27) retained form and got another start. However, the emerging player of the season remains Anurag Sinha. After a good batting display against United Club, Sinha scored 38 runs of 37 balls with the help of seven eye catching boundaries. Itkhola AC secured the easy five wicket win to remain on top of the points table.

For his all round performance Subhajit Paul was adjudged the man of the match.
