AASU to demonstrate against Citizenship Amendment Bill act in Silchar tomorrow

The All Assam Students Association announced that it will stage a demonstration in Silchar as a mark of protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, recently passed by the parliament. AASU announced that the demonstration will take place near the Zero Point, at the under-construction Mahasadak. AASU – Cachar’s senior member Ainul Haque Laskar will lead the demonstration tomorrow.

The protest-demonstration will start at 10:00 AM in the morning and will continue till around 3:00 PM. The organisers informed that many other associations will also participate and protest against the recently passed bill.

It is worth mentioning here that while Bramhaputra Valley opposed the Bill it was welcomed wholeheartedly in Barak Valley. Apart from minor protests in the outskirts of Silchar, Barak Valley – the “Island of Peace” has remained peaceful.
