It maybe mentioned that many anomalies were found in HS Exam, 2018 as it was alleged that the question papers of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry had striking similarities to the model question papers distributed by Goalpara Science Academy and a probe was ordered into the incident.

A total of 22,963 students from three districts of Barak Valley (Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi) appeared this year in 65 examination centers. Out of them, 11,599 are from Cachar District (8977 Arts, 1665 Science and 957 Commerce), 4753 are from Hailakandi district and 6611 from Karimganj.

The Assam Higher Secondary Examinations Council (AHSEC) before the exams begun, had informed that each center will have state police official deputed for security reasons. CCTV cameras were also installed in the examination centers to ensure fair proceedings. The Council had also informed that apart from Principal and external invigilator, nobody would be allowed to use mobile phones or smart watches in the examination hall.

Out of the 65 examination centers, the Council had identified six as ‘sensitive’ and had even taken special measures for the sensitive centers. A week before the exams, AHSEC, Chairman, Dayananda Borgohain had visited Barak Valley and checked if all the necessary measures were in place. After inspection, he had shared his satisfaction and said that all three districts are prepared to conduct examinations seamlessly.
