Amidst protests against Offline examinations, Assam University administration suspends all classes until further order

After several rounds of talks and appeals for deliberations by the Assam University Silchar administration, the stalemate with protesting students couldn’t be solved. After declaring the blockade of the main gate of the central university illegal, the administration issued a new circular on February 16, evening.

As the blockade of the main gate jeopardizes the day to day activities and official works of the university, the place of any further protest had been relocated to a designated place. The notice read, “The blockade of the main entrance gate to the University or blockade in entry to other premises of the University is illegal. The University authority hereby designates the compound of Netaji Subhash Mukta Mancha as the place of protests/dharnas etc., if any hereafter”.

Further, the offline classes have been suspended by the authority. “Offline classes for all courses in all semesters of the University departments shall remain suspended wef 17.02.2022 until further order,” the notice further undersigned by Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath, the Registrar of the University said.

Any official decision regarding the examination was not declared by the university. The above-mentioned considerations were granted under compelling circumstances by the Registrar of the University.
