Appalled at sanitation facilities in school, Governor Jagdish Mukhi said, “Aap Ko Sharm Aani Chahiye”

The governor’s visit in Barak Valley is emerging as a nightmare for many. Day 1 he expressed his disgust to Cachar district administration after inspecting washrooms of Government Boys High School in Silchar, his visit to Karimganj Public High School on day 2 was a lightning strike for the authority.

Governor Jagdish Mukhi after completing his Cachar visit traveled to Karimganj yesterday. To get an idea of the hygiene and sanitation condition of the district he visited several government institutions and one such was Karimganj Public High School. While he had a problem with the sanitation and hygiene condition of the entire district in general he lost his cool in Karimganj Public School.

He himself entered the toilet and after coming out he said the colour of the washroom has changed, as it has never been cleaned. He checked and saw there was no water and that added fuel to the fire, the fuming governor in front of everyone else asked, district’s deputy commissioner to take action against Ashish Das, Principal of the school. “Sharm aani chahiye aapko,” he said on top of his voice.

After visiting the institutions, hospitals and government offices he went to the Sutarkandi, India-Bangladesh international border. There he spoke to security personnel of both the country. From there his convoy drove to Malegarh war museum where he paid homage to the martyrs of 1857 Sepoy Mutiny. Yesterday, he also felicitated specially abled singers in Karimganj on the occasion of ‘Sant Surdas Jayanti’. He attended an event organised by a local organisation where he handed over the memento to the singers.

“I feel very good after visiting the borders, I was deployed in Jammu and Kashmir I went to all the borders there, I visited borders in Amritsar, Rajasthan and in many other parts of the country. This is my first visit to Barak Valley and I am really happy that I could visit the Sutarkandi border. I would like to visit all the borders in the entire Northeast region,” said governor, Jagdish Mukhi.

Today he will head to Hailakandi district and follow the same routine of visiting educational institutions, hospitals and government offices. Today is the last day of Governor Mukhi’s three-day Barak visit.
