The after effects of Friday’s cyclonic storm is still pertinent in the entire Barak Valley, especially Hailakandi district.

The heavy wind took away the roof of a newly built multi purpose hall in Katlicherra area, and ‘BJP Jubo Morcha’ is now questioning the quality of work done by the previous government. About Rs 1.25 crore was spent to build the hall.

The roof that came crashing down

The Jubo Morcha members visited the multipurpose hall today and after inspecting it thoroughly, formally filed a  complaint with Hailakandi Zila Parishad. The Morcha has accused the previous government of corruption and urged the administration to immediately inspect the entire scenario. The Morcha has even asked for the blueprint on the basis of which an estimate was submitted, and the money was sanctioned. If no action is taken, then they will file a petition, the Morcha issued a warning.

(Read here: Cyclone hits Barak Valley, Hailakandi most affected, no electricity in Silchar ) In the report we mentioned about trees crashing down on the middle of the road dissecting electric cables, which resulted in interruption of power supply in the valley. Well, as per latest information, electricity has bee restored in most of Cachar and Karimganj area, while some part of Hailakandi is still suffering.
