Assembly Election preparedness: DC, SP Cachar, DIG Southern Range meet counterparts in Meghalaya

In pursuance of Election Commission guidelines, an inter-state meeting was held between Deputy Commissioner Cachar Keerthi Jalli and Deputy Commissioner East Jaintia Hills, E.Kharmalki at the forest Inspection Bungalow of Umkiang Meghalaya on Friday.

The meeting took place in the presence of DIG Southern range Dilip Kumar Dey, Superintendent of police Cachar Bhanwar Lal Meena, Superintendent of police East Jaintia Hills, Vivekanand Singh, Circle officer, Katigorah, Pranjit Deb, Superintendent of taxes, Cachar Debojit Ghosh, District transport officer, Cachar, Angshuman Biswas, Assistant Commissioner of taxes, Cachar, Papori Niog, Assistant inspector of taxes, Partha Chakraborty.

Speaking with Barak Bulletin about the meeting, DC Keerthi Jalli said, “It is an election-related meeting. We spoke on cooperation with regards to the supply of vehicles, sharing of sensitive information and helping us with excise raids, and tracking the movement of illegal cash if any.”

After the cordialities were exchanged, the DIG Southern range Dilip Kumar Dey explained the purpose of the meeting. While speaking on the occasion he reiterated, keeping in view of the ensuing assembly election, 2021, both the states should work jointly along with all departmental heads to check illegal cash flow, liquor, and other detrimental elements that may create mayhem in the atmosphere during the time leading to the polls.

The Deputy Commissioners of both the Districts assured working in camaraderie to thwart any such untoward incident during election times. The other officials in the meeting echoed the same unanimously. Further such more meetings are contemplated upon in the coming days along with the other bordering districts of Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, and Bangladesh as well.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Deputy Commissioner East Jaintia Hills Meghalaya E. Kkharmalki.
