Cachar College Student, Rongpur resident die in a motorcycle accident; Traffic law enforcement under scanner in Cachar

In the last seven days, as many as three twenty somethings have been reported dead after meeting with a motorcycle accident. It was the festive of Makar Sankranti that saw so many deaths. The question that therefore arises here is the Police formation that was all over social media during the new year’s eve, publishing every minute details of traffic law enforcement, what were they doing a fortnight later.

Assam University student died after colliding with a tree. He was twenty something. Then comes the shocking news from Mahasadak-adjacent Chandighat.

Cachar College Student Monideepa Nath was riding with her friend, a Rongpur resident Rubel Das and their speeding motorcycle collided with a tree. The impact was such that both of them fell few metres away amidst the tea plants. As per available information, they were returning from picnic at Madhura Quarry when the accident happened.

The locals gathered and stretchered them to the Udharbond Hospital where the doctors deemed their condition to be serious. Both of them were then rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Rubel Das was declared dead within a few moments of admission to the hospital. BA First year student Monideepa Nath continued her fight with death for two days and eventually succumbed late on Sunday.

The death of two more young residents of the district due to road accident exposes loopholes in traffic law enforcement especially in the Mahasadak zone where bikers are back doing stunts with their motorcycles.
