Our correspondent reporting from the spot said, four individuals were produced in PI court in connection with the alleged attack on Haj Pilgrims in Central Road Silchar. As per sources all of them were arrested last night itself.

Yesterday at around 12:30 pm, when the pilgrims were on their way to Bhagabazar from Silchar. Between Ukilpatty and Bhowal point, unidentified miscreants stopped them on the road, took their skull-caps forcibly and threw it away.

The miscreants further warned the pilgrims they would cut them into pieces and dump into the river if they did not leave the place then. Out of fear, the pilgrims ran away from there and took shelter in a nearby place.

The matter was thereafter reported to the police and a probe was initiated. A group of people met Cachar superintendent of police Mugdhajyoti Mahanta and informed about the incident. Mahanta assured them that those involved in the incident would be held within the next twelve hours.

As it stands Cachar Police delivered to its promises and took immediate actions.
