A tragic road accident occurred in the Gumrah area of the Cachar district, claiming the life of a class 8 student. This incident happened this afternoon when the victim, identified as Saniya Barbhuiya, a student of Gumrah M.E. School, was returning home after appearing for an exam. A speeding truck loaded with gas cylinders fatally struck her on National Highway 6. But locals were able to stop the truck driver from fleeing.

Eyewitnesses report that the accident happened in the afternoon when Saniya was walking along the road. The truck, reportedly driving at a high speed, lost control and hit her, resulting in her immediate death at the scene.

In the aftermath of the accident, enraged locals gathered at the site and blocked the Silchar-Guwahati National Highway 6, demanding justice. The blockade caused major traffic disruptions, creating a tense atmosphere in the Gumrah area.

Police were quick to arrive at the scene, and they have since detained the truck involved in the accident along with its driver. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident while working to restore normalcy in the region.
