DC Cachar Pays Homage to Lachit Barphukan on His Birth Anniversary

The Cachar District Administration Commemorated Lachit Divas on Sunday to honour the birth anniversary of the legendary Ahom General, Lachit Barphukan. The event was held at the District Commissioner’s Office, where floral tributes were offered to celebrate the legacy of the heroic figure known for defending Assam from Mughal invasions.

District Commissioner Mridul Yadav presided over the ceremony and addressed the attendees. In his speech, he highlighted the significance of Lachit Barphukan’s contributions, particularly his leadership during the Battle of Saraighat. “Bir Lachit Barphukan epitomises the spirit of patriotism, resilience, and selflessness. His bravery is not just a part of Assam’s history but an inspiration for the entire nation,” said DC Yadav. He encouraged everyone to embrace the values of courage and integrity demonstrated by the Ahom general.

The event began with floral tributes offered by the District Commissioner and administrative staff at the statue of Lachit Barphukan. Participants reflected on the general’s strategic skills and dedication, which remain a source of pride for Assam and the nation.

The ceremony concluded with a reminder to uphold the ideals of unity and service exemplified by Lachit Barphukan. The event, organised by the Regional Office of Information & Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, sought to inspire a renewed sense of patriotism and pride among the community.
