Dibascan starts home collection of samples for COVID tests; RT PCR reports will be available at doorsteps

Dibascan Diagnostic Centre, Silchar has started collecting samples from home for COVID testing. Cachar district as most part of the world continues to be in a pandemic situation. The second wave has already struck the national capital and the possibility of one reaching other parts of the country looms large.

With winter, the possibility increases feel experts. The temperature in Silchar is set to drop below 10 and in such a situation, cold and cough become very common. However, ruling out COVID remains an important factor.

While Rapid Antigen Test kits are available at multiple private and government hospitals, RT-PCR is limited to only a few. Considering those government institutions to be crowded, many Silcharians stay away from testing. Keeping this insight in mind, Dibascan Diagnostic Centre invested in opening a Private Virological Laboratory.

The laboratory is accredited by NABL and approved by ICMR. National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is an accreditation body, with its accreditation system established in accordance with ISO 15189:2012. With the accreditation and approval, the laboratory started its operation last month. It tests SARS-COVID by open system RT-PCR using Thermo Fisher Scientific’s technologies.

Headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States,  Thermo Fisher Scientific is an industry-leading, worldwide, trusted partner with comprehensive, end-to-end research solutions for pathogen detection; scientific expertise; and the support capabilities critical to combating the current SARS-CoV-2 outbreak.

The laboratory has been set up in a separate building considering the sensitivity of COVID and the related testing system. At a multistory building in Hailakandi Road, between Kathal road and Meherpur, the laboratory has trained technicians and modern storage facilities to keep samples at minus temperature.

“The Home Collection of samples have already begun and at this stage, we are covering the entire Silchar and New Silchar. People interested in getting their samples collected from home can dial 6003573699 or 6003581230,” informed the management.
