Fire in Entertainment Plaza, employees brought flame under control

A narrow escape for one of the busiest buildings in Silchar. At around 4:20 PM today evening, people spotted flames coming out of the kitchen of Gold Cinemas in Entertainment Plaza, located in Sadarghat. The owner along with other employees of the film theater using their presence of mind started spraying the fire-extinguisher and threw sand to bring the flames under control.

There are multiple offices, restaurants in this building and thus flames could have spread like wild fire. As per the owner, Mulchand Baid, they tried to call the fire station but the number was busy. That is why they did not wait for the engines and themselves got into action.

According to the present employees who brought the flames under control, a leakage in the pipe attached to the gas cylinder caused the fire. Few tables and other materials kept inside the kitchen caught fire and got damaged.

Baid informed that the local police officials responded fast and reached the spot immediately after getting the information. “I thank Superintendent of Police for sending officials immediately and they helped us a lot,” says Baid.

He informed that the fire did not cause much damage and the theater, restaurant and other facilities inside Entertainment Plaza will function as usual.
