Former Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Silchar - Satyasthanandaji Maharaj killed in a hit and run case  

Swami Satyasthanandaji Maharaj, Ex-Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram Silchar and present Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Shimla is no more. As per available information, he was traveling to Lucknow for some work and a fatal accident took place.

According to Ramakrishna Mission Shimla, Swami Satyasthanandaji Maharaj had hired a taxi to Ambala Railway Station and from Ambala, he was supposed to board a train to Lucknow. “What we have got to know is that the taxi driver had dropped him on the highway next to the Railway station. Apparently, a speeding car has hit him while he was on foot,” said the priest at Ramakrishna Mission Shimla.

Ambala Police informed that his body has been sent for post mortem. “After the post mortem is completed, his mortal remains will be taken to Ramakrishna Mission Chandigarh where his last rites will be performed,” said the priest in Shimla.

The Officer in charge of Parao Police Station in Ambala Cantonment area confirmed that it is a hit and run case. “He was dropped by the taxi and after that, just beside the flyover, while he was trying to cross the road a speeding car drove over him and ran away,” said the investigating officer.

“We are investigating the matter. So far, we don’t know which car drove over him,” he added.

Meanwhile, his untimely death has left the Ramakrishna Mission Sevasram society and the disciples in a state of shock. “Devotional songs in his melodious voice is still echoing in my ear,” said a disciple.
