As the polling date is nearing for the upcoming Assam Vidhan Sabha election, preparation from all sides is at its zenith. Keeping that in mind, the District Administration of Cachar has released a music video based on the theme ‘Voting Awareness’.

The official election music video titled ‘Garv Cachar’, which was composed and sung by Sobhraj Chakraborty and Kashi Bishwanath Das of Silchar is primarily aimed at wooing voters from all corners of the Cachar district, especially youth and women. The music video was posted through the official YouTube channel of SVEEP Cachar.

When asked about the music video ‘Garv Cachar’, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said, “We went to great lengths to find local talent who would understand our vision for ‘Garv Cachar’ of taking pride in all that we have and laying a path for our collective inclusive progressive future. The lyrics are inducive to first-time voters and equally to women voters.”

About the production she said she is proud of it. “The team came through from scripting the song to our liking to adding music that is young and catchy whilst at the same time celebrates our immense heritage with Garv. Come one and come all to vote,” she asserted.

The video starts with a montage of shots showing people across all walks of life proudly holding up their marked index finger seen after voting in various places of the district. The song asks for people to come out together and vote to exercise their democratic rights.

Talking about the youthfulness of the song, composer Sobhraj Chakraborty said, “We started working on the song when Kashi da got the offer from the DC office. We were told to compose something that’s catchy but also sends the message across all kinds of people. Wooing the voters is the foremost objective of this song, hence we tried to make this song a bit accessible for the masses.”

He also said that the initial response to the music video is quite great and that many people have already congratulated him for coming up with this song.

The video was produced by the Millenials Production and the song was mixed and mastered at the Sonicspawn Studios.
