Himanta Biswa Sarma to inaugurate the new bridge over Barak on Feb 25

Do you know about the new selfie point in Silchar? Since last few days you must have seen plenty of images being uploaded on Facebook- a common background with blue light and a bridge. That’s the new bridge over river Barak in Sadarghat. The construction work is over and the administration is decorating it with paints and lights. The new bridge will be inaugurated by the Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister – Finance, Health & Family Welfare, PWD, Transformation & Development, Government of Assam, India on February 25, 2019.

Approximately Rs 60 crore has been spent to build the bridge in Sadarghat. Construction work commenced in 2014 and then PWD minister Ajanta Neog had laid the foundation stone. Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region sanctioned funds for the construction of this bridge.

Alongside inaugurating the bridge, Sarma will also attend a ceremony in District Library. The finance minister sanctioned Rs 29.43 crore for renovation and development of the Silchar District Library. He will also unveil the foundation stone in Police parade ground as flood lights are set to be installed in ground which will be rebuild as a track and field stadium. A mass gathering is expected in Silchar Police Parade Ground as the finance minister is set to address the public.

On February 26, 2019 he will travel to Kochudaram in Sonai area and inaugurate a model hospital. On the same day, he is expected to unveil the foundation stone of the Silchar – Dudhpatil bridge. Following which he will fly back to Guwahati.
