Paul does not have any travel history but he has been visiting the quarantine centres, COVID hospital and he believes that he has got infected from one of these places. At the same time, he has urged that the people of Karimganj must not roam outdoors unless it is extremely essential. If it can happen to him it can happen to anyone.

“The only way to combat the virus is by washing hands repeatedly, maintain social distancing and staying away from crowded places as much as possible,” he said.

He is an elected MLA, a VIP and so far, the patients and people in quarantine centres have complained about the facilities and arrangements on numerous occasions. “I am just another COVID patient, no VIP treatment for me in the hospital. I trust the doctors and would like people to have faith in the State and Central Government,” Paul added.

He said he is grateful to the sweepers who are putting their lives at risk and entering the COVID block to keep it neat and clean. “They are human beings too, we must be grateful to them for whatever they are doing,” said Paul.

He appealed to the fellow patients in Karimganj Civil Hospital and elsewhere in the Barak Valley to cooperate with the medical staff, health workers and others braving it from the frontline.
