One of the most sought after events in the northeastern region, North East Inter College Invitation Quiz and Debate (NECRIQ and NECRID) organised by Jyoti is back after a hiatus. On November 9, 10 the events will unfold at Rajiv Bhawan in Silchar.

One of the founding members of Jyoti, Ravi Patwa already announced the name of speakers, mover of the motion and opposition leader. Mover of the motion would be ex Commonwealth Inter-University Debate Runner Up and legendary Barak Valley Debator Prof. Partha Sarathi Chanda and Opposition Leader will be Mr. Nilanjan Roy, ex CEO, Times of India Group.”

Explaining the topics, Patwa wrote, “Motion of the Debate for the NERICID final is “Abrogation of Article 370 is a positive step”. In NERICID prelims, the motion would be “Media is responsible for the rising intolerance in the country.”

Member of Parliament and a founding member, Rajdeep Roy also expressed his excitement. “My passion for quizzing and debating since my school days lead to a few of our friends starting ‘JYOTI’ almost 30 years back. We have been organising the North East Inter College Invitation Quiz and Debate since 1989 and the event was a regular calendar event for a long time. The event has been a sought after event in the life of many quizzers and debaters of yesteryears and they still swear by the event!”

The excitement has already reached its peak and the people of Barak Valley are eagerly waiting for November 9, 10.
