Karimganj Police raids a house and seizes 40,000 YABA tablets worth Rs 1.2 crore; 2 arrested

A few days back, the Karimganj Police successfully managed to seize 40,000 bottles of illicit cough syrup near the Assam-Tripura border.

Today in another raid, the Patherkandi Police recovered 40,000 Yaba tablets from a certain house in Patharkandi of Karimganj district. In this connection, 2 arrests have also been made along with the seizure of Yaba tablets which is worth around Rs 1.2 crores.

The incident happened at the Deobari area under the Patharkandi PS jurisdiction. At around 11 am on Wednesday, a joint operation led by the Karimganj and Patharkandi police raided one house based on a secret tip-off. After a thorough search, 40,000 Yaba tablets were recovered from that house in packets.

Karimganj SP Padmanabh Baruah said, “Based on a secret intel, a joint operation led by the Karimganj and Patharkandi police raided a house in Patharkandi, where 40,000 Yaba tablets were recovered. Two persons were also arrested in this connection and they’ve been kept under the custody of Patharkandi police as of now.”

The names of the arrested individuals are Islam Uddin and Sabbir Ahmed, both hailing from the Deobari area of Patharkandi. A case has also been registered against the duo and they’ll be produced in court soon.
