Katigorah Police seizes 55 packets of suspected heroin along with Rs 30,000 cash; Arrests 5

The war against illegal drug racket rages on in Barak Valley. Yesterday, Katigorah Police in a successful raid has managed to seize 55 packets of suspected illegal drugs along with Rs 30,000 in cash. Five people in connection with this racket were also arrested by the Katigorah police.

On Thursday evening, led by Katigorah Inspector OC Ranjan Doley, ASI NI Choudhury and other police officials raided the place and seized 55 packets of suspected illegal drugs, a few syringes, Rs 30,000 in cash and four mobile phones as well.

The arrested five suspects in this drug racket are Munna Ahmed, Alom Ahmed, Pradip Malakar, Abdul Jalil (Joynul) and Sanjay Das. All of them belong from different villages of Katigorah except Munna Ahmed, who’s a resident of the Bundashil area in Badarpur.

On hearing the news, Additional SP of Cachar, Partha Pratim Saikia rushed to the scene from Silchar. He said, “Based on a tip-off, Katigorah police raided the suspected place and seized 55 packets of suspected heroin drugs, along with Rs 30,000 cash and 4 mobile phones as well. In this connection, 5 people have been arrested too and based on this arrest, we’re looking forward to busting more such illegal drug rackets in the valley.”

On inquiring about the market price of the seized amount of suspected drugs, Additional SP Partha Pratim Saikia said that they are not aware yet about its current market price as the investigation is still on.
