Life Skill Training for Adolescent Youth gets underway in Hailakandi

A Life Skill Training for Adolescent Youth has begun in Hailakandi district.

Organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), the seven-day duration non-residential life skill training beginning on Friday at the Officers’ Recreation Club will continue till August 30.

Altogether 40 adolescent youth in the age group of 10-19 years from different schools of Hailakandi town have enrolled for the training programme.

The programme was inaugurated by Joint Director, Health Services, Dr. Avijit Basu. Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Kumar Jha and Principal, Public HS School, J. Islam Mazarbhuiya were present on the occasion.

Earlier, in his address, District Coordinator, NYKS, Sekhar Ranjan Deb said life skills have been defined by the World Health Organization as the abilities for adaptive and positive behaviours that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demand and changes of every day life. “Broadly speaking, there are three areas of life skills vis-a-vis thinking skills, social skills and negotiating skills,” added Deb.
