Massive Drug Haul in Sribhumi: Over 76,000 Yaba Tablets Seized
In a major breakthrough to curb the drug menace, a huge quantity of narcotic contraband was seized in Sribhumi’s (erstwhile Karimanj) Patel Nagar this morning. Based on credible intelligence, the Sribhumi Police team led by Superintendent of Police, Partha Protim Das, made this drug bust and also apprehended three individuals. Two four-wheelers were also taken under the police custody that were being used to peddle the drugs.
Speaking to the media, Sribhumi Police’s SP Das said, “We had the information that two vehicles had left from the Champhai (in Mizoram) and were headed towards Patherkandi side. We intercepted the two cars at Patel Nagar and started the search operation. AS-01FX-3862 and AS-01AE-0119 are the registration numbers of these two cars”.
“Upon searching this vehicle, more than 76,000 Yaba Tablets were found all together hidden inside the secret compartments built inside the cars”, he further said.
Partha Protim Das also mentioned that three people were apprehended in this connection who hail from the Kalain and Katigorah areas of Cachar. The apprehended drug peddlers are Hussain Ahmed, Abdullah Khayer and Nizam Uddin.
