Meet Silchar boy who didn't give up after accident; Modified Pulsar into Enfield, opens garage

Saddam Hussain, a youth who originally hails from Sonai’s Kachudaram, and currently lives in Lailapur located along the Assam-Mizoram border, revamped a Bajaj Pulsar 180 bike into a Royal Enfield Bullet.

Hussain’s story is tragic as he lost one of his legs in a road accident that occured 7-8 years back when a truck hit him while he was standing on the side of the road. His right leg had to be amputated by doctors due to the accident. Currently he walks and rides motorcycles using a prosthetic leg. Earlier he used to work as an auto welding mechanic but later opened a bike repairing workshop in Lailapur after the accident.

One day out of passion he took the task of modifying a Pulsar 180 Bike into a Royal Enfield Bullet. He used to modify the bike during his leisure hours at the workshop with his own money. It took him around 40,000 rupees and 2 months to modify the bike and give it the look of Royal Enfield Bullet. He also modifies the bikes of customers who come to his workshop for changing their looks apart from the routine tasks.

Hussain has three children and a wife in his family. He earns his bread and butter through the workshop. Despite being a handicapped person, Hussain laments that he hasn’t received any facility or aid from the government till now. He has urged the government to aid him in his passion of modifying bikes and help him in his future plans.

Hussain has become quite a sensation in Lailapur after modifying his bike. Locals of Lailapur are praising him as usually people resort to mendicancy after getting handicapped, but with a strong determination and iron will Hussain has showed what a specially abled person can achieve in his life.
