NIT Silchar's 18th Convocation: Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' to be the chief guest

The 18th convocation of the National Institute of Technology Silchar, will be held on November 2 in a virtual mode with the Chief Guest being Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’.

For the first time the convocation will be without the physical presence of students due to the precautionary social distancing measures as part of the COVID 19 restrictions.

The ceremony will also be graced by Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, as the Guest of Honour; Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE as the Special Guest; Gautam N. Mehra, Chairman, Board of Governors, NIT Silchar and an alumnus Sanjay Chaudhuri, Associate Director (Scientist G), DRDO, Govt. of India.

The program is slated to begin at 9:55 am of Monday which will be webcast live on NIT Silchar Official Youtube Channel.

It can be mentioned here that the NIT Silchar has earned much fame and glory in last few months with its name featuring in one after another international rankings.

The cap of NIT Silchar is embellished with feathers like International Ranking in the Rank Band of 601-800 in Engineering & Technology, 601-800 in Physical Sciences and 801-1000 in World University Ranking 2021 by Times Higher Education (THE).

Recently, the institute also managed to secure 750th position in Engineering in US News Ranking 2021, without being separately applying for the rankings. The US News Rankings considered the institute based upon its strong “research output and collaborations”.

NIT Silchar also secured 46th position in NIRF ranking 2020 among Engineering Institutes and 94th position among overall Institutes apart from being also placed in Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA)-2020 in the rank band of 11-25th in the category ‘Institute of National Importance, Central Universities and CFTIs’.
