NIT Silchar's 21st Convocation to be held on November 2, Minister Bimal Borah invited as the Chief Guest

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar is all set to host its 21st Annual Convocation on 2nd of November 2023 at 2:30 pm in the Institute Auditorium (Sport Complex). This significant event will honour the academic achievements of students who graduated in the year 2023.

The convocation will see a total of 1,216 students being awarded degrees in various courses, including 830 B.Tech graduates, 179 M.Tech graduates, 58 M.Sc. graduates, 50 MBA graduates and 99 Ph.D. recipients. Notably, Institute Gold and Silver medals will be presented to exceptional students, recognising their outstanding performance in academics and extra-curricular activities.

The event promises distinguished guests and speakers, with Bimal Borah, Hon’ble Minister of Industries & Commerce, Public Enterprises, and Cultural Affairs of the Government of Assam, delivering the convocation address as the Chief Guest. Dr. SP Agarwal, Hon’ble Director of North Eastern Space Applications Centre, will grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour and Padma Shri Prof. A P Dash, former Vice Chancellor of Central University of Tamil Nadu and ex-regional advisor to the World Health Organisation, will also be present.

Prof. Dilip Kumar Baidya, Hon’ble Director and acting Chairperson of the Board of Governors, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar, will preside over the event, adding to the prestige of the ceremony.

It maybe mentioned that NIT Silchar, a leading technical institution in Barak Valley as well as the entire North East, has been recognised for its excellence, ranking 40th among engineering institutions in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023. It proudly stands as the top NIT in the northeastern region and 7th among all 31 NITs. In the World University Rankings 2023 by the Times Higher Education, NIT Silchar is positioned between 601-800, further emphasising its global standing.

The 21st Annual Convocation ceremony is a momentous occasion for the Class of 2023, symbolising the culmination of their years of hard work and dedication.
