Open violations of Govt. Order in Cachar; Roads packed due to immersion processions, DJs playing loud

Cachar District Administration had issued an order categorically banning the immersion processions in Silchar. The deputy commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli herself stated in an interview that no DJs will be allowed.

As it turns out, it is all law and not enforcement in Cachar. The district administration had declared slots for respective Puja Committees. In the order it mentioned that no slots can be changed. However, the Puja committees have stopped following them today. The administration, in its order mentioned that the immersion process will continue till 9:00 pm.

Yesterday, 178 sets of idols were immersed but today, out of 78 slotted, till 7:30pm, only 10 sets have reached the Bisarjan Ghats. Most puja Pandals slotted today are big-budget Puja Committees and so they are marching with huge crowd which is slowing down the process.

Also, some Puja Committees that were slotted to immerse crowds today have done it yesterday making alternate arrangements. For example, Shivalik Park was allotted a slot today at Sadarghat Bisarjan Ghat. But the committee went and immersed the idols at ghat in NIT Silchar. Many other Puja Pandals have made similar arrangements.
