Pijush Hazarika, Dilip Paul inaugurate blood bank in Silchar Civil Hospital

As a part of his two-day trip to Barak Valley, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Pijush Hazarika inaugurated a number of projects meant for public benefit.

On Monday, the Minister inaugurated the newly made 30-bedded Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital at Kachudaram in Sonai constituency in the presence of local MLA Aminul Haque Laskar.

Later, the minister also inaugurated the blood bank at the SM Dev Civil Hospital in Silchar alongside Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul and other dignitaries. The Model hospital will give special thrust on child health care and shall be equipped with 108 ambulance services. The blood bank has a capacity of keeping 240 units of blood collected.

In his speech, Hazarika said that developing the health sector is a foremost priority for the government and there is a constant effort to usher in development across the state. This hospital was a long pending demand by the people of the area. Already six medical colleges have been opened in the state and eight more colleges will be set up in the state in the coming days.

He also informed that soon the valley will get its second medical college in Karimganj. Former Union Minister Kabindra Purakayastha, principal of SMCH Dr. Babul Bezbaruah, joint director of health services Cachar Dr Sudip Jyoti Das, and superintendent of Civil Hospital Dr. Ashutosh Barman and Cachar BJP president Kaushik Rai attended the occasion.
