Please do not get provoked by WhatsApp messages and social media posts, please maintain peace

“Island of Peace” we must not forget how we are known… As responsible citizen of the country it is our job to actually maintain peace and harmony and not take law in our own hands. Since last night several provocative WhatsApp messages are doing rounds in Barak Valley, these messages are political agenda and we urge people not to react to these messages.

Social Media and WhatsApp are free platforms and hence anybody can communicate anything. Globally social media has emerged as a tool to propagate vendetta and the only way to fail such initiatives is by completely ignoring them. Yes, what happened last mid-night is unfortunate, every citizen irrespective of caste, community and creed has all the rights to sleep peacefully and the administration must ensure that. If stones are pelted in people’s house it’s a massive security issue. But, we have judicial institutions in place, which will take care of the scenario after following all the procedures. We must help them, instead of hitting the road in large numbers and taking law in our own hands.

Our reporters deployed on the field are informing us that several groups are assembling in various parts of the city and that is not a good sign. As per latest reports few senior leaders of various organisations are meeting in Silchar Police Station in presence of SP Rakesh Roushan to find a peaceful solution to this outrage.

These messages and rumours are making this look like a massive law and order issue, in reality it every thing is under control. We appeal to all the citizen of Barak Valley do not get provoked my messages on social media platforms and do not take law in your own hands, have faith in judiciary, let administration do its job.
