School heads and teachers undergo training by UNICEF on online education, new Hailakandi DC joins in

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, with closure of schools, 143 school heads and teachers underwent online training through zoom on digital pedagogy and other related quality concerns of online education on Monday.

Organised by the Office of Inspector of Schools here in collaboration with UNICEF, the online training on digital pedagogy and other related quality concerns of online education lasted for close to four hours.

The training program was coordinated by Education Specialist, UNICEF, Assam, Chhaya Kunwar and at district level by Inspector of Schools, Hailakandi, Rajiv Kumar Jha.

Deputy Commissioner, Megha Nidhi Dahal, on his first working day after assuming office, exhorted upon the heads and teachers of schools and madrassas to stay alert during the unprecedented times and expressed his profound happiness over the slew of initiatives taken to create virtual classes for the students through online classes, YouTube channel Chetana and radio classes.

The school heads and teachers interacted with the specialist speakers from UNICEF and Pratham Education Foundation during the question and answer sessions to dispel their doubts and to have a clear grasp of things to make online education an effective medium of instruction.

Soft skills for preparing online age specific learning contents were provided besides other training areas.

Headmaster, Panchgram Town High School cum Academic Secretary, District Academic Council, Abdul Suqur Choudhury thanked the Deputy Commissioner, the Education Specialist, UNICEF, and her team and Pratham Foundation, besides all the teachers and heads of schools and madrassas for participating in the online training program.

Inspector of Schools, Jha requested UNICEF to continue providing support to the department of education, Hailakandi through their expertise in future too.
