Silchar DSA amends Cricket Laws, brings new restrictions in participation of players from other districts

From 2022-23 cricket season, matches will be played in Silchar with new rule. As per the new rule, more than five players from other districts won’t be allowed to play cricket. There was no rule regarding that previously nor any guideline. Hence, clubs were allowed to have as many players from other districts as they wanted. However from next season the rule is about to change. The Governing Body of Silchar District Sports Association stamped it’s approval on the cricket division’s proposal for an amendment. Two more proposals were passed in the Governing Body’s meeting. The first one is that from next season there won’t be any provision for medical clearance. Also, there won’t be any provision to field “fresh players”. From the next season, fresh players will have to get inter district clearance for playing.

In the Governing Body meeting held on Monday, many more decisions were taken. After Players’ Welfare Fund, now Club Development Fund has been created. As per District Sports Association’s Secretary Bijendra Prasad Singh, this is a historic decision. Local clubs will get benifited from it. In the meantime, 12 clubs wrote an application for monetary assistance from the Association. All these clubs are being provided with monetary help by the Association. The clubs have been divided into two groups with each group consisting of 6 clubs. Accordingly, Jatiyo Byayam Vidlayay, Town Club, BBC, Kallol Sangha, Rupak and Bijoyi Sangha will be provided with 25 thousand rupees as monetary assistance. Besides, United Club, PWLD AC, Tribeni Club, Pubali Club, Silchar Football Academy and Government Boys School will be assisted with 50 thousand rupees by the Association for developing infrastructure and other miscellaneous needs.

One more noteworthy thing is that two years back “Cholo Mathe Jaai” programme got a great response. However, since the last two years it was stopped due to covid pandemic. Next year i.e. on 12th January this programme will again be organised by Silchar District Sports Association. Besides, the accounts for 2021-22 has been approved. Now the accounts will go for audit.
