Silchar girl Debattama Saha to make Bollywood debut with Kartik Aaryan's Shehzada

Our very own Silchar girl Debattama Saha is making it big in the acting world. After playing leads in top GEC shows, the young girl is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada.

Fans noticed Debattama in the trailer of the film that dropped recently, and couldn’t have been prouder. She will be seen essaying the role of Paresh Rawal’s daughter and Kartik Aaryan’s foster sister.

As soon as she shared the trailer, fans dropped heartfelt comments on her post. Her co-stars and colleagues also replied with encouraging words. Her Shaurya Aur Anokhi co-star Karanvir Sharma wrote, “Kya baat”, while another friend Yakshaj Jagtap commented, “Are ab to 1st show dekhne jaana padega”. Others like Hitesh Bharadwaj, Neha Adhvik Mahajan, Sanket Chaukse and Sanjay Gagnani also posted sweet messages.

Fans also got Debattama Saha trending on Twitter. The actor also posted a video of screenshots about the same, with a photo of her looking up with her hands spread out. “Forever Grateful to you all. Thank you!” she wrote with the video.

Talking about her journey to becoming an actor, Debattama, in an earlier chat with Barak Bulletin had shared, “My father is a senior section engineer at Indian Railways and he wanted me to become an engineer too. I still remember when students used to come home to learn AutoCAD (commercial computer-aided design and drafting software application) from my father, he would often ask me to join them. I tried my hands and that is when I realised it is not my cup of tea. I told him, you be an engineer in the family, I will do something else.”

She used to participate in local singing and dancing competitions in her childhood. “I am a stubborn rebel from childhood,” she recalled. “I would go mad if I was not given the first prize. Often I was denied the reward because I was not the jury’s favorite. But those stage shows and competitions gave me the confidence to be in Mumbai and work as actors,” she added.

After trying her luck in a few Bengali shows, Debattama moved to Mumbai, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Directed by Rohit Dhawan, Shehzada also stars Kriti Sanon, Manisha Koirala and Ronit Roy. It’s a remake of Allu Arjun’s 2020 blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramulo. The film will hit cinema halls on February 10.
