Like every year, the Veteran Cricketers Club of Silchar will be felicitating the top Cricketers of the Year. The members of the club conducted a press conference today. The felicitation ceremony will be held at Kalpataru Hotel on 19th November from 4:30 pm onwards.
The veteran club, made up of former cricketers of the district, started its journey back in 2017. They have been helping former cricketers in various ways since their inception even financially as well during their difficult times. They have also been involved in various socio-cultural activities. Recently, the Club successfully organized a walkathon during the pandemic. This time they have come forward to reward the best cricketers of the year.
Speaking to the reporters Club President Bijendra Prasad Singh said “Our Club has been welcoming former players from the beginning itself. A number of sports journalists were also honoured by our club last year. This time too we will felicitate sports journalists.”
Raju Das bagged the title of best cricketer in the men’s category this year while Khushi Sharma became the best cricketer among women. Avay Dev won the feat of being the best promising cricketer this year. A special award will be being given to Abhijit Gotani this year. Besides, Rahul Singh, one of the team members of Rajasthan Royals in the just-concluded IPL will also be felicitated.
Veteran Club members have always something exceptional and unique to offer every time. This time too the members of the club have well kept alive that tradition. A total of thirty four umpires and two scorers will be felicitated this time. Umpires will be awarded hats while scorers will be with awarded handbags.
