Son scams 95-year-old father to loot 1.6 bigha land; "He took me along saying we're applying Aadhaar"

Cheating or 420 IPC cases are on the rise in the Cachar district. Since the time, the chief minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma raised concerns about the scams at revenue and settlement offices, many such cases have come fore. In another such case, a 95-year-old Kailain man was duped by his own son.

Brahman Gram, Kalain resident Mohammad Ali Talukdar is 95-year-old and his 45-year-old son Abdul Munim Talukdar approached him with the proposal to get an Aadhaar card. Father agreed to travel with his son and in the month of March 2021, both of them went to Kalain to get the Aadhaar. “There he told me that the Aadhaar cannot be done in Kalain and we must visit Silchar. I refused but he insisted and we went to Silchar where he met couple of other people,” recalls Mohammed Ali Talukdar.

He adds that his son asked him to sign on a stamp paper and he even signed on a couple of blank papers. “It did not seem usual and so, once I returned home, I called my other son and informed him about all that happened,” says the 95-year-old.

After checking various documents, his sons found out that 1.6 bigha land owned by Mohammad Ali Talukdar has been registered in the name of Abdul Munim Talukdar. Moreover, it is mentioned that Mohammad Ali Talukdar agreed to transfer the ownership of land after receiving Rs 6,00,000 through two cheques.

He has lodged an FIR stating that he has not received any such cheques and the transfer of land ownership is a scam. Moreover, the plots are worth crores, so, why will he agree to transfer the ownership for Rs 6,00,000 only.

A case has been registered at Silchar Sadar Police Station under section 120B/420/468/471IPC. The Police officials said they will investigate the matter.

There are many cases where middlemen dupe residents and con their plots. Astonishingly, this happens to be a case where the son conned his father to get the ownership of the plots.
