Theft in 2 stores near Silchar Police Station; didn't spare Dilip Paul's wife's store either

Burglary in Silchar and entire Barak Valley has been heading towards north since sometime now. One after another case of burglary surfaces every now and then. Today too we have two such cases of burglary. The first one is both shocking and surprising, it shows a thief does not give a damn about the status of the person or his or her relatives. Deputy Speaker Dilip Paul’s wife Archana Paul runs a Manorama Ghee shop in Silchar’s Janiganj area. The shop was shut yesterday as it was a Sunday and today when she along with her employees went to open the shop, the found that the door was already opened. She realised its a case of burglary and immediately informed the police about it. According to Arpita Paul around 80 crates of Manorama Ghee is missing, she and her employees suspect the thieves broke in Sunday night knowing that the shop is shut. What’s more surprising is the shop is a stone’s throw away from Silchar Police station and is considered as one of the safest areas in Silchar.

The case number two also shows that the thieves have no fear of getting caught, in Premtala area’s Hardware shop Padma Traders a group of thieves broke in and took away materials worth Rs 2,50,000. The shop has CCTV cameras installed in it and the footage shows, at around 9.25 PM Sunday night the thieves broke in. 9.25 in Premtala area is just evening and such act in an area like Premtala is a very worrying sign.

Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roushan along with other senior police personnel visited both the shops and took note of the crime scenes. Deputy Speaker Dilip Paul too visited both the shops and urged police to take immediate action.
