Trisha kidnapping: Demand to locate missing Neha; Parishad threatens mass agitation in March

The Cachar Hindi Bhasi Chatra Parishad has threatened to stage a mass agitation in Barak Valley in the first week of March if Neha Bagdi, who was the prime suspect in Trisha kidnapping case, is not arrested.

Trisha (Shubhomita Roy Choudhury) was abducted from the staff quarters of Assam University on June 5. She was rescued from Khliehriat in the East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya on June 10. Neha, who worked as Trisha’s nanny, had also gone missing and is untraced till date.

Trisha is the daughter of Subhadeep Roy Choudhury, assistant professor at the department of life sciences, Assam University and Shatabhisha Roy Choudhury, medical officer at the health centre, Assam University.

In a memorandum submitted to Cachar district administration on Monday, the Parishad claimed that the abduction of Trisha, her recovery from Khliehriat and the disappearance of Neha Bagdi was a “conspiracy” and that can only be brought to light by finding Neha.

The memorandum said the entire tea garden community of Barak Valley has been waiting for Neha’s recovery and the issue has assumed a serious dimension.

The Parishad said Neha, if found guilty in the incident, should be punished as per law but she needs to be recovered. Neha’s father passed away a few months ago because of shock and hopelessness. It alleged that though the matter was brought to the attention of the authorities concerned many times in the past, Neha remains untraced till date.

Further, the Parishad stated that they will be bound to launch a mass agitation with different tea garden communities along with organisations in the valley in the first week of March if Neha is not traced.

Parishad president Sanjeev Roy, assistant general secretary Rajat Roy, Dilip Kumar Singh, Dinesh Kahar, Sahab Uddin Ahmed and Sanju Rabidas were present among others.

It may be mentioned that the Cachar police authority had announced a cash reward of Rs. 50,000 if anyone could provide information about Neha which helped to locate her. However, that did not apparently turn out fruitful as there has been no clue about her even after 20 months.
