Two Drug Suppliers Arrested in Karimganj with Drugs Worth ₹42 Crore
In a significant breakthrough, Karimganj Police have seized narcotics valued at ₹42 crore and arrested two drug suppliers. The operation was carried out in the Patel Nagar area, where the police intercepted a Bolero pick-up vehicle during a routine search. Inside, they discovered 1,20,000 Yaba tablets and 537 grams of suspected heroin hidden within the vehicle.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Hanif Uddin from Ratabari and Zabrul Hussain from Patharkandi. Both are believed to be involved in a large-scale drug supply network operating across the region. The police have taken them into custody and launched further investigations to uncover the full extent of their operations.
The seized Bolero pick-up vehicle, bearing registration number AS 11 EC 5666, had been modified with a secret chamber to conceal the illicit substances. The police were able to detect the hidden drugs beneath the driver’s seat during their thorough search. The contraband was tightly packed inside 45 soap boxes, containing the suspected heroin.
This operation was part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking along the Assam-Tripura national highway. The national highway, which serves as a major transit route, has seen increasing drug-related activities, prompting authorities to intensify their efforts. The prompt action by the police has dealt a major blow to the drug network in the region.
The use of drugs such as Yaba tablets and heroin is extremely harmful to society, particularly among young people. The Assam Police have taken a strong stance against narcotics, launching a war on drugs aimed at eradicating this menace from society.
