Veteran journalist Raja Dhar is no more

Senior journalist Raja Dhar breathed his last today at his residence in Rongpur. He was employed as a reporter at ‘Dainik Abichar’ publication and used to work as a freelancer with many other newspapers.

His son Rahul Dhar confirmed the sad news of his father’s demise to barakbulletin.com.

Rahul Dhar said that today afternoon his father Raja Dhar complained of backache. At around 3:00 PM family members saw Raja Dhar falling of his feet. “We rushed to lift him up and that is when we realised that baba has lost his consciousness,” says son Rahul.

Raja Dhar, who was in his mid-fifties was immediately rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital and the doctors declared him brought dead.

There is a state of shock in the family and fraternity. A senior journalist in Barak Valley said he remembers Raja Dhar as one of the most well behaved individual in the fraternity, “It is shocking and unbelievable. May his soul rest in peace and may God give his family strength. It is a huge loss,” said the journalist.

Raja Dhar started his journalism career with Dainik Sonar Cachar newspaper. He lived by his wife, Lipika Dhar, his daughter Debarati Dhar and son who is yet to complete his studies, Rahul Dhar.
