Armed dacoits loot a petrol pump in Barak Valley; Owner says Rs 4 lakh missing

Last night at around 12:30 AM (Early today) a group of 10-12 dacoits has allegedly looted a petrol pump in Barak Valley. The incident took place in Chorgula area located in Karimganj district. As per the owner of the Bharat Petroleum franchise in Chorgula, Sudhanshu Das, the group of dacoits armed with rifles, shovels, sword and other deadly weapons barged into the pump and started breaking all the doors.

Das who is also a BJP Prabhari from Silchar, speaking to Barak Bulletin said, “My staff who were in the store at that time said that the dacoits came driving in a Tata Sumo. They parked their vehicle outside so that the CCTV cameras do not capture the registration number. As soon as they entered they broke all the cameras, stole the hard drives.”

All of them, as per Das, were wearing helmets, “There are several rooms in the petrol pump, one is an electric room, one is the accounts department among others. They broke each and every door and created a ruckus in the petrol pump before leaving with around Rs 4 lakh,” said Das.

The staff at Das’ petrol pump were allegedly beaten by the group of dacoits, “They are injured. The entire incident looks like a planned event, which means they were keeping a track of where the CCTV cameras are, how many are there etc. I believe there are local informers involved in this and if investigated well we will be able to nab the culprits soon,” adds Das

Police reached the spot immediately after the incident and is investigating the matter.
