If you want to study commerce in Silchar Vivekananda college is the place”: Brinda Roy, 9th

Vivekananda junior college outscored many to emerge as one of the best institutions teaching commerce in Assam. Ashim Sarkar from the institution secured top spot in the state with 474 marks, same institution’s Brinda Roy scored 455 to bag the ninth position in the merit list of top 10.

In an interview with Barak Bulletin, Brinda Roy said that the institution has played a pivotal role in her success in the class XII examinations conducted by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council. She said, “The teachers here take extensive care of each and every student and that is a big differentiating factor.” Roy went on to add, “For the students who are planning to take commerce after school, Vivekananda college is the place.”

Apart from her teacher’s guidance, she feels her determination throughout the year played a vital role too. “It is natural that you will have many obstacles in your way. I had my cousin’s wedding right before the examination, I could not study during the day, but because I was focussed throughout the year, it became easy to overcome such obstacles,” added Roy.

Brinda Roy had scored over 85 per cent in her school leaving examinations. While she scored good marks in Science subjects she was always sure that she wants to enroll herself in Commerce stream. “My father is from Commerce background, I used to scan through Commerce books and it always interested me. Also I knew he would be there to help me and there is an institution like the Vivekananda college which would shape my career and thus I decided to take Commerce stream,” Roy informed.

Roy said she will now do her B.Com and in future, wants to do an MBA from a reputed college, “My aim in life is to be a banker,” she concluded.
